About

“I have worked in UX for a decade now, with a couple of companies and have found myself working now at a Dublin based, but globally reaching software company. I have now reached a senior role with that company where I am now the company CXO and lead product designer.

I have thought of myself before of being a mentor as I was making my way in the industry and earning my stripes. I have now reached that point, feel more confident in the work i produce and if i can help anybody else to not make the same mistakes I did then I would have contributed to the next generation of UXers.”

Why UX?

“I am, and have always been an ideas person, full to the brim of an ideas to solve any problems I saw in everyday life, be that physical or digital products. Before I ever knew what UX even was. I translated that into entrepreneurship where some of my ideas led to me being involved in early stage startups while pursuing my digital media degree.

What I loved about that degree was the visual design element, as it was giving me the skills to create visual representations of my ideas, so i knew then where my future lay. Which is why i immediately started a masters in interaction design after my degree and so my career officially began in UX. I would classify myself as a very natural UX designer, with the ideas to problem solve, the curiosity to validate those ideas and the design skills to build them.”

What advice do you have for future mentees and UX designers?

“The only real advice I can give, based upon my own experience is if this is the chosen career path for you then just completely immerse yourself in it for as long as possible. Because the skills you need and the mindset you need to program into your way of working will come with repetition.

UX is a unique field that has the opportunity to be a part of architecting what is a very exciting future for humanity as we advance even further alongside technology. So feel that passion and use it as fuel to become a better designer everyday. “
