About

“I’ve been working in the digital industry for almost 15 years. I started out as a graphic designer and soon moved over to UI/UX.

I had the chance to achieve my biggest dream of working in the gaming industry and later had the opportunity to build a full UX team from the ground up. We have a big infrastructure, and I’ve learned so much from mentoring my team that I reached a point where I just want to share as much as possible with the next person.”

Why UX?

“I’ve always been a big fan of web design and product design and would work on these at any chance I had, either at the studios where I worked or doing freelance. My opportunity to move to UX came while I was working in Brazil at TOTVS, one of the largest tech companies in Latin America.

In 2015, I was offered the chance to move from Marketing to UX because we did not have a UX team at the HUB where I was. My mentor, Gustavo Oliveira, Head of UX at the company’s headquarters, mentored me to learn everything the company did around UX so I could build a team at my HUB and train other UX Designers.

Since then, I’ve been working with UX and mentoring whenever I can. Currently, I lead a UX team at Scopely on the Star Trek Fleet Command team. When I first joined the company, I also gained a lot of experience from Lily Li, my former Lead. I’ve been learning and sharing for so long that it has become a cycle.

Mentoring is a cycle of teaching what you know and, at the same time, learning from the people you meet. It’s something I never want to stop doing.”

What advice do you have for future mentees and UX designers?

“Choose a niche you love and focus on that. Doing what you love is the best feeling you can have. Be driven to learn more each day and stay updated on new trends. Never let your creativity die.

UX is an ever-evolving field that is never complete and always changing, so there’s always space for new creations and ideas.”
