About

“For the last two years, I have been part of the Deloitte Digital team where I work as a UX Design Consultant. As part of my work, I get to practice a wide range of UX methodologies and learn new skills every day. I am passionate about finding ways to always put the user first, and showing others the benefits of this.

For almost 20 years I worked as a graphic designer in the commercial department of a national newspaper. After returning to college in 2014 I was encouraged to learn more about UX Design. I have since completed a Master’s Degree in User Experience Design at IADT and made a career change that allows me to improve my skills and learn new ones.

Working experience

Deloitte Digital | Senior UX Designer

I am working to further embed UX activities into product design and development projects. By highlighting the importance of inclusive and accessible design in my work, I have demonstrated the value of good design for all. I have helped design a mature design system of components built to be accessible and comply with WCAG. I present on the topic of accessibility to ensure all team members understand our roles in creating products that can be used by as many people as possible.

Deloitte Digital | UX Consultant

As a UX Design Consultant working on client projects, I am responsible for being the ‘voice’ of the user during product design. This involves learning as much as possible about our users, sharing this understanding with other team members and using UX methodologies to leverage this understanding. I carried out user research and analysis, facilitated user testing, and evaluated interface designs.

What led you to the world of UX?

“I was encouraged by my graphic design lecturer to explore UX and apply for the Masters in IADT. They saw a ‘fit’ for me in user experience design and I have found so many parts of the work that enjoy and am passionate about.

My IADT peers also played a significant part in making me the designer I am today.

What advice do you have for future mentees and UX designers?

“Understand that you cannot know everything, all at once. Stay focused on the task at hand and ask for advice or feedback whenever you have the chance.
